Bug ID: 517072
Summary: Pressing Ctrl to avoid Text tool from creating Wrapped
Text stop working if the cursor is stationary.
Classification: Applications
Product: krita
Version First git master (please specify the git hash!)
Reported In:
Platform: Appimage
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Tool/Text
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
In Krita Document > Reference Manual > Text Tool page > Inline Wrapped section:
It says: To avoid creating a wrapped text while dragging, press :kbd:`Ctrl`
while dragging.
However, the Ctrl key state only updates when the cursor is moving.
If I press Ctrl when the cursor is stationary, the |T| icon does not turn to T.
As soon as the cursor start moving, it turns. If the icon has not turn to T,
even if I'm holding Ctrl key all the way, it will always create a Wrapped Text.
Same when releasing Ctrl when the icon is current T. If I release Ctrl when the
cursor is stationary, the T icon does not turn to |T|. As soon as the cursor
start moving, it turns.
Not only that, if I press/release Ctrl when dragging, the |T| icon is
constantly and the text box flicker and become less responsive.
Affects both Qt5 and Qt6 versions. Tested with:
krita-5.4.0-prealpha-72af5096bb-x86_64.appimage (2026-02-28)
krita-6.1.0-prealpha-f77c162afd-x86_64.appimage (2026-03-04)
