--- Comment #15 from Kai Krakow <[email protected]> --- When using `kcmshell6 qtquicksettings` to set software rendering for plasma, there's no VRAM usage at all for that process, and I don't notice and performance loss by that. The only downside I noticed is that window previews on the task icons no longer works, and rendering of graphs (e.g. throughput of copy jobs) no longer works - the latter also affects the system monitor. But it's a small price to pay for much better overall system behavior. I wonder why background image, especially slide shows, are allocated from VRAM at all. It's not like the shell has to render fancy effects with them at all. For window previews, this may matter, tho. Back when I still used X11, I could set XRender for plasma, and this allowed window previews and graph rendering without the huge VRAM overhead, but that is not an option with wayland. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
