            Bug ID: 516291
Summary: [feature request] option to auto-resize windows to fit
                    on screen
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: kwin
      Version First unspecified
       Reported In:
          Platform: Fedora RPMs
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

PROBLEM
I often use an external 1440p monitor (laptop internal is 1080p) with KZones
tiling. my zones often create windows which are larger than 1920x1080, which is
fine for the extenal monitor, but when i unplug it, (even after pc restart),
the window remembers this large size and doesen't fit on my laptop display.

PROPOSED SOLUTION
I would like an option to automatically resize windows which end up larger (in
width or height) than the current display to fit on the current display.

I imagine this would work similarly to a window rule that triggers once on
window creation. (I am not requesting that large windows get immediately scaled
down when I disconnect the external monitor, but the option doing this would
also be fine).

I tried setting up a window rule for all windows, but there doesen't seem to be
a dynamic "display size" variable/value for the "Maximum size" window rule.
