The Lock/Logout widget does not have a way to adjust icon size / spacing. One potential solution would be to allow these to be configured, as they can be in the System Tray Settings. The user then could choose the same settings for both, making them consistent. This currently is a limitation of the Lock/Logout widget rather than a bug.
