That's the problem: you don't "fight for" an issue as though this was some kind
of adversarial process or development cage match. You HELP fix the issue by
contributing code.

If you cannot do that, and you aren't interested in learning how or paying
someone else to do it, then doing literally nothing is the most  useful and
effective course of action. This preserves a calm environment in which
volunteers who can contribute code will do so. If the environment turns
stressful or adversarial, they won't.
