Thank you for your reply but "badge during operation of the (discover) program"
is exactly what I mean. 
- The first thing I do after I start my system is: to look if there are updates
in discover,
- immediately after that I start other applications and so they come to lie on
top of the discover window,
- when discover would give such a badge, then I could see if there were updates
and how many the moment they showed and I didn't have to suspend my work to
look if there were updates available,
- then I could come back to discover and let it go on with my own job.
For me it would be practical.
