I used this on my netbooks.  It made them so easy to use.  Now my netbooks are
not easy to use.  (Ironically the netbook setting was the hardest to use)

This is an important feature that I got used to.
I run KDE in virtualbox in a window, and this is totally needed there too.
I'll run this setting everywhere but the most senile of seniors (where I keep
it always visible)

I would even go so far as to add a setting to keep a bit more of the panel
showing.

A possible work around is to have cloned panels where one is autohide, and the
other is stay visible but on back layer...  but this seems like it would take a
lot of memory, and I'll be using machines with 4gb
