            Bug ID: 513884
Summary: Wishlist: Perform Maintenance Tasks at the Command
                    Line
    Classification: Applications
           Product: digikam
      Version First 8.7.0
       Reported In:
          Platform: Debian stable
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Setup-CLI
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

I have a feature request: I'd like to be able to perform all the maintenance
tasks at the command line.

I've been looking for ways to offload loads from my laptop, which is a small
and silent one, to my headless server, which has plenty of power. Recently, I
managed to exhaust the RAM of my laptop when rebuilding fingerprints. My server
hosts the MySQL database and the files, so it should be better done there.

There's an open bug #254099 on running new image scan on the command line. That
bug also links to some others, but this wish extends those and scopes it
clearly to the actual tasks in the Maintenance dialog under Tools. If these
were available on the command line, all these maintenance tasks should be able
to run on the server.

It would also enable people to run background maintenance as cron jobs, as well
as quickly trigger maintenance that you may want to do without needing the GUI
up.
