This is intentional, but not well explained. The whole point of calibrating is
to change the (bad) relationship between the detected position and where you
stylus actually is. If we show the cursor, people will just tap where the
cursor lies which defeats the entire purpose of calibration.

That doesn't feel right, are you sure it's actually visible in the calibration
window?
