Bug ID: 512060
Summary: Secondary Monitor Desktop Folder Settings Bug -
"Layout" option defaults to "Folder View" on boot but
isn't actually in folder view
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First master
Reported In:
Platform: CachyOS
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Desktop icons & Folder View widget
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
SUMMARY
Two CachyOS users having the same issue with our secondary monitor. On the
secondary monitor, we right click, and click on "Desktop and Wallpaper".
"Layout" says "Folder View", but we cannot place icons on our secondary
monitor, not make a square selection with our mouse. This behavior would be
expected if our "Layout" said "Desktop". Interestingly, if I choose "Desktop",
press Apply, then choose "Folder View" again, and press apply, the Folder View
suddenly works as expected.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Turn on computer as normal
2. Try placing a folder on my second monitor, it doesn't work, the layout is in
desktop mode
3. Check the Desktop Folder Settings, it says the layout is in folder view
4. Change to Desktop, apply, change to Folder View, apply, now it's truly in
folder view and I can place my folder on it
OBSERVED RESULT
PC thinks it's in Folder View, behaves like it's in Desktop View
EXPECTED RESULT
Folder View works
