Bug ID: 511229
Summary: Dates pane completely empty after update from Debian
Bookworm to Trixie
Classification: Applications
Product: digikam
Version First 8.6.0
Reported In:
Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Albums-TreeView
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
With my somewhat older database (in MySQL) I don't see anything in the "Dates"
pane/tab (on the left side, as an alternative to the "Albums" view). This used
to work before the Debian update to "Trixie" (current stable), and it still
works for a fresh configuration (different user starting with a new sqlite
database, as is the default).
So I tried running Digikam 8.8.0 from the AppImage downloaded from digikam.org,
and with that the "Dates" pane is once again working as it should. Even the
8.6.0 AppImage is working correctly... so this looks like a Debian packaging
bug? But with this going to the Digikam list I guess there is more specific
Digikam knowledge there.
For two reasons I do not like running the AppImage:
- it starts up slower
- I'm using KDE with Digikam alternating between three different computers, and
I'd rather stick to default Debian instead of introducing AppImages to each of
them.
Any idea what could be going wrong, how to diagnose and possibly fix it?
