--- Comment #2 from Frederic Da Vitoria <[email protected]> --- OK, I'll try to reformulate. As I wrote in my initial comment, I feel the count which dK shows next to an item name is fine. What dK could improve IMO is the centre pane display. Let's use again my example of an album with 2 local images and 3 images in sub-albums. In dK's current version, let's say View/Include Album Sub-Tree is checked and this album is collapsed. If I select this album in the tree-view, dK will show a count of 5 (2 locals + 3 subs), which is fine, and in the centre pane, dK shows all 5 images. Now if I expand the album, dK reports a count of 2, which again is a good idea IMO, but still shows 5 images. Note that the image count differs from the number of images displayed. You will easily see that the same discrepancy between the count and the number of images displayed appears when View/Include Album Sub-Tree is unchecked and the album is collapsed. I understand this is intended, and this behaviour makes sense. But I'd like to be able to have a different behaviour, which could be called "dynamic", or "automatic", or maybe you'll find a better wording. In this new behaviour, when the album is collapsed, dK shows a count of 5 and shows 5 images in the centre pane, and when the album is expanded, dK shows a count of 2 and shows 2 images in the centre pane, hiding those which are in sub-albums. The count is always consistent with the number of images displayed. This is not about consistency, it is about intuitiveness: when an album or a tag is collapsed, it means I want dK to behave as if all its contents and its sub-item contents were at the same base level. In a way, I want to temporarily forget that I have structured it with sub-items. This idea is perfectly handled by dK when it displays the counts. I'd like dK to do the same with the pictures displayed in the centre pane. I understand some (many?) users may not like my suggestion. So I believe it should be an option. Maybe the Include Album/Tag Sub-Tree option could have three states : include / exclude / automatic. I hope I make more sense now. And I hope I have managed to convince you this would be useful :-) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
