Bug ID: 510954
Summary: HEIC files do not show all images if more than one is
present
Classification: Applications
Product: gwenview
Version First unspecified
Reported In:
Platform: Kubuntu
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
The image viewer does not show all images from a HEIC file
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Download a HEIC file with more than one image inside (I suggest Dynamic
Wallpaper Club for that)
2. Open the image with gwenview
3. See that only the first image is displayed
OBSERVED RESULT
Only the first image of the collection is displayed
EXPECTED RESULT
Multiple images are displayed independently since a HEIC is not always an
animation, additionally the option to save each image as an independent image
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 25.10
KDE Plasma Version: 6.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.17.0
Qt Version: 6.9.2
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The package libheif-examples already have support for this HEIC feature with
the command heif-convert so the base libheif does in fact support reading all
images inside a HEIC file
