            Bug ID: 510669
Summary: Lokalize ignores ibus in translation editor
    Classification: Applications
           Product: lokalize
      Version First 25.08.0
       Reported In:
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: editor
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When entering text in the translation editor, ibus is completely ignored and
thus cannot be used to enter translations for, say, languages with different
scripts.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have ibus running with at least two input methods (i17n and table definitely
cause the problem, not as certain about layouts with a keyboard icon). For best
results, use languages whose scripts do not resemble each other.
2. Attempt to switch input methods via the keyboard shortcut in the translation
editor (in the target box).
3. Switch input methods outside the program and attempt to type in the
translation editor using the input method you just switched to.

OBSERVED RESULT
Assuming default shortcuts, step 2 causes a space to be entered (bypassing the
shortcut entirely), and step 3 will enter characters according to the 'keyboard
layout' in settings instead of the virtual keyboard.

EXPECTED RESULT
ibus should change layouts when the keyboard shortcut is pressed, and typing in
the translation editor should enter characters according to the virtual
keyboard.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: Fedora 42
KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.17.0
Qt Version: 6.9.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This may affect virtual keyboards in general, not just ibus. I am not certain.
