To give you an update; 
I tried the built-in color profile, and things are all still too saturated.
I installed DisplayCal and generated one of each of the default template color
profiles, including the ones for DCI-P3 displays. Still too saturated. 
I even switched from KDE Linux to Fedora KDE (for troubleshooting something
else). The colors on the display only look correct once in a blue moon when the
display feels like being correct for a bit. 

I am convinced this might be a driver issue.

I had to switch to Fedora KDE on this device
