dolphin showing stripey alternating lines

SUMMARY
waking my laptop and switching to dolphin via clicking on the taskbar, dolphin
forgets theming and renders strong black and white alternating bars.
restarting dolphin fixes.
selecting a different theme from the menu also fixes.
doesn't respond to global colour theme changes.

perhaps unrelated, but I notice icons don't change in this state either, when
switching colour themes.

System has a lot of KDE components built from main so perhaps this is the
reason, elements being out of sync.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open dolphin
2. sleep laptop
3. wake laptop from sleep

OBSERVED RESULT
- dolphin has gone stripey

EXPECTED RESULT
- looks normal
