Summary: digiKam generated XMP sidecars not updated by
darktable

SUMMARY
Sidecars generated by digiKam are obviously not 'understood' by darktable and
thus not written any further – neither automatically nor by command. This
bevaviour is quite new but I can't exactly say when it started. Generating the
XMP by darktable, then write to it by digiKam and then by darktable again works
as usual, so the problem seems to happen during the initial creation.
The issue is the same in AppImages 8.7.0 and 8.6.0 with all darktable versions
at least down to 5.0.0 on Kubuntu and Mint. Nicely the bug doesn't occur at all
on MacOS. And if the XMP was created by digiKam’s Mac version, darktable can
write to it on Linux too.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create an XML file in digiKam by saving an image (pattern is
filename.extension.xmp)
2. Import the image to darktable and edit it.
OBSERVED RESULT
Darktable edits are not saved to the xmp sidecar.
EXPECTED RESULT
xmp should be updated by darktable. This happens only if the XMP was initially
created by darktable and further changed by digiKam. Or if the initial XMP was
created with digiKam’s Mac version (8.7.0).
