Bug ID: 508551
Summary: [Feature Request] Add support for recording speaker
and microphone audio in screencasts
Classification: Applications
Product: Spectacle
Version First unspecified
Reported In:
Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal

Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
Currently, Spectacle screencast recordings only capture video, without the
ability to include audio.
For creating tutorials, demonstrations, or instructional videos, it is very
important to have synchronized audio recording. The feature should allow:
- Recording system (speaker) audio
- Recording microphone input
- Optionally, mixing both sources together
Without this functionality, users have to rely on external tools to add
narration or system sound, which complicates the workflow. Adding built-in
audio recording support would make screencast creation much more effective and
user-friendly.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start a screencast recording in Spectacle.
2. Observe that there is no option to enable audio recording from speakers or
microphone.
OBSERVED RESULT
An option to select audio sources (speakers, microphone, or both) and include
them in the screencast recording.
EXPECTED RESULT
Only video is recorded, with no audio.
