2. sometimes the keyboard brightness control is available sometimes it isn't

keyboard brightness control visibility intermittent
EXPECTED RESULT
Control should be available at all times not just after reboots

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Sometimes booting into windows then back to Linux makes the control visible.
Control is not visible more than it is visible and lock screen doesn't turn off
backlight when control is not visible.
