And OS (or DE for that matter) without apps is useless. Mind you, Discord is likely the second most popular app for gaming after Steam. There will be apps that use wayland but not being developed anymore. There will be cases where app developer doesn't care. Isn't wayland compositor supposed to be a lot more strict about what apps can and cannot do? That is genuine question btw. There are a lot of talks about security around wayland, where an app can't grab input or explicitly ask compositor to use devices and stuff.
