SUMMARY
Hovering over a folder in the folder widget opens a little preview of the
content of such folder. With proper timing, I can switch virtual desktop right
when a folder preview is opening, which results in the ability to get the
preview to show in a virtual desktop where something else is in focus and/or
the folder widget is not even visible.
As you can see in the attachment, I even managed to do it twice in a row: at
some point I opened the preview of a folder in a different virtual desktop and
hovering on a folder inside such preview I opened an additional preview going
back to the original virtual desktop.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Place a folder widget
2. Open a full-screen window in a virtual desktop adjacent to the current one
3. Over on a folder inside the folder widget and just before the preview
appears switch to the next virtual desktop with a keyboard shortcut

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I think this is part of a bigger problem, as sometimes these previews seem to
even leak through windows so that I see previews appear while the folder widget
is covered by an window, but I cannot reproduce this consistently.
