There are two reasons: i) the icon labels are very short and immediately
truncated, and ii) I use wide screens and set the general font size to 13 or 14
points, which I find too large for the icon labels, which I would prefer to
have in 9 or 10 points.
But it's just a matter of personal habit and aesthetics.
