Жора Змейкин <[email protected]> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |[email protected] Version First|5.103.0 |6.16.0 Reported In| | --- Comment #11 from Жора Змейкин <[email protected]> --- This issue is still relevant, and I’d like to explain why. When I was new to Linux, I learned about .desktop files and how to edit them. However, nowhere in the official documentation did it mention that you need to manually run `kbuildsycoca6` for changes to take effect. I believe this is a significant oversight. At one point, I edited a .desktop file using nano to add custom launch arguments to an application. But the application didn’t receive them. I spent over an hour trying to figure out what was wrong. Neither restarting plasmashell nor rebooting the system helped — the changes were simply ignored until I discovered `kbuildsycoca6` by chance. This is a frustrating experience, especially for newcomers. I suggest triggering a re-scan of `.desktop` files at least on reboot, or after `plasmashell` is restarted. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
