This issue is still relevant, and I’d like to explain why.

When I was new to Linux, I learned about .desktop files and how to edit them.
However, nowhere in the official documentation did it mention that you need to
manually run `kbuildsycoca6` for changes to take effect. I believe this is a
significant oversight.

At one point, I edited a .desktop file using nano to add custom launch
arguments to an application. But the application didn’t receive them. I spent
over an hour trying to figure out what was wrong. Neither restarting
plasmashell nor rebooting the system helped — the changes were simply ignored
until I discovered `kbuildsycoca6` by chance.

This is a frustrating experience, especially for newcomers. I suggest
triggering a re-scan of `.desktop` files at least on reboot, or after
`plasmashell` is restarted.
