Bug ID: 507522 Summary: Current album selection lost when clearing folder filter after "Go To → Album" Classification: Applications Product: digikam Version First 8.8.0 Reported In: Platform: Microsoft Windows OS: Microsoft Windows Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Albums-Filters Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: iwannaber...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY When using the "right click, Go To → Album" feature from the Tags panel, the Albums panel does not update correctly if a folder filter is still active. This prevents the user from interacting with the current album in the Albums sidebar unless the filter is cleared, which in turn causes digiKam to change the selected album unexpectedly. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open the Albums panel and type a word in the search/filter box to limit the displayed albums (e.g., type "holidays"). 2. Switch to the Tags panel and use it to find an image by tag. 3. Right-click on one of the found images and select Go To → Album. 4. Observe the behavior in the Albums panel. OBSERVED RESULT The main view correctly navigates to the album where the image is stored, but the Albums panel still has the filter active (e.g., "holidays"), so the actual album is not shown or selectable in the sidebar. If the user clears the filter to make the current album appear, digiKam immediately switches to another album (typically the last selected one before the filter was applied), making it impossible to interact with the intended album from the sidebar. EXPECTED RESULT When using Go To → Album, if the current album is not visible in the Albums panel due to an active folder filter, and the user manually clears that filter, digiKam should keep the current album selected in the sidebar. In other words, clearing the folder filter should not cause digiKam to switch to a previously selected or unrelated album. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: Windows 10 Digikam 8.8.0 with build date 20/7/2025 13:01 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This issue can be confusing for users who rely on folder filtering to navigate large collections. It also prevents certain actions (e.g., face detection, metadata refresh) from being performed directly via the sidebar unless the album is visible there.
