Same issue started occuring for me with 6.4.
To add to the ways this can be reproduced:
This seems to happen when you alt tab between a xwayland and a wayland
application with an active text input and use the ime in both. In my case
mostly a browser window with an active text field and a konsole terminal. It is
not 100% consistent but i can trigger it in a few tries.
Steps:
1. Open xwayland and wayland application
2. Be in active text input field in both applications
3. Try switching and back and forth while switching the input method on and off
in between.
4. Should get broken input state
