They apparantly already fixed it and merged into master, so should be available in their next release. I verified their fix: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xdg/xdg-utils/-/issues/283 I'm also fairly new to posting linux bug reports, I try to read guidelines, but it is a lot.
