have you confirmed yet that that KMS is functional, e.g. via the kernel command
line option ‘nvidia-drm.modeset=1’? I faced nearly this exact issue with a new
Gentoo installation: in my case, I was building a unified kernel image and
wasn’t correctly setting the cmdline options
