I have had this for years.
After SSD fiasco, I moved back to HDD to boot from.
Anyway, I have two notes to add:
- I have few HDDs attached (> 10TB each). They are not mounted all the time but
the more are mounted the slower it is. I see them accessed after logon as KDE
mounts them
- I have a very large cache in my home dir ,of > 40GB (now it's about 48GB). I
suspect this is loaded after the logon - this may explain the delay until the
desktop is set up. Deleting that does not help, it will build another large
cache in the next minutes. Is there a way to avoid such large cache? Can this
be limited?
