I am quite sure that this is an upstream bug in xwayland, which was fixed in
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/merge_requests/1758 but currently
reverted in the 24.1 branch, see:
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/merge_requests/1781.
You may want to try xwayland 24.1.5 which has the fix.
