This is the way basically all file views work in all apps across the entire
industry. If we were to change that, it would break people's familiarity from
everywhere else, and with everywhere else.
The solution here is some kind of "selection mode" like Dolphin has now, but as
requested, this proposal isn't something we can do, sorry.
