Bug ID: 504748 Summary: Improve UX of "Add Clip or Folder" dialog. Classification: Applications Product: kdenlive Version First unspecified Reported In: Platform: Other OS: Other Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: User Interface & Miscellaneous Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org Reporter: gabcor...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 181717 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=181717&action=edit "Add clip or folder" dialog vs. "Open project" dialog. These are the current issues I've encountered while using it: - The "Name" and "File type" fields use a lot of screen real estate (and 2 rows), while in the Open project dialog the same two features are achieved using just 1 row. - The "File type" field is not just a drop-down menu (combo-box) but a full text input field also. I notice this text field can be used to do a custom filtering of the files list, but then there's an optional "Quick Filter" feature in the dialog that is supposed to do just that? (Another consideration is that I doubt many users will realize that they can use this "File type" text field to do a custom filtering). - Moreover, after selecting a new file type from the drop-down menu, the focus is left inside the text input field, with no way of escaping it using the keyboard (Esc key just closes the dialog). A relevant thing to consider, would be that if the user had just used the drop-down menu to select a preset file type, it's not very probable that right after that, he/she wanted to type a custom filter text; so putting the focus on the text field in that situation doesn't seem a very useful thing to do. - The default file type is "User Files". It's not clear (nor explained in the Manual) what this file type really is, and how it differs from "All Supported Files" file type, for example. An entry in the manual about those different file types would be helpful, I guess. Thanks for listening! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
