Thank you for the feature request! A rather similar request to your first point
already exists, so I'm merging them. It sounds like a good feature, and I hope
someone considers implementing it.

The second one is not covered in that, but you could consider adding that as a
comment to the other report. I'm a bit doubtful though - if you want to be in
highlighting mode, there's already a button in the toolbar that does that (and
a keyboard shortcut). The right-click option to highlight the selected text
would seem to be particularly useful for quickly highlighting something, and
using it also switching tools would very surprising to me (and somewhat
inconvenient if you then want to select something without highlighting it,
possibly hours later). In general, I think it's best to be careful with having
things in the context menu that have one label and secretly also do other
stuff.

But if you think the added convenience would be worth the extra complexity,
please suggest it in a comment on the linked feature request so that it can be
considered if someone implements the first feature.
