It hasn't happened to me since and I have done way too many updater after I had that issue so I believe right now that the issue doesn't exist... I also remember something else that was weird in the past when I created them.... I remember dragging a widget on the edge of the screen and then the widget would dissappear as if it was placed somewhere outside of the screen. I again solved that gia config deletion.
