            Bug ID: 503796
Summary: Add possibility to mark tags (keywords) as "Private"
    Classification: Applications
           Product: digikam
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: unspecified
                OS: Unspecified
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Tags-Keywords
          Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
          Reporter: rolandkien...@gmx.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Hi All,
I would very much appreciate it if the following function could be implemented
in digiKam:

Tags (keywords) can be provided with a property or a marker, which has the
effect that these tags are generally not stored in the image files/sidecar
files, but are only available in the database

Reason:
Tags (keywords) are generally also very suitable for organizational purposes
and for descriptions that are very useful for me as the creator of the images,
but are of no use to other viewers and should not be used as search criteria.
If you use color markers for such purposes, you quickly reach your limits
because you run out of colors very quickly.
Another reason is that some tags should not appear in the image files for
privacy reasons and should therefore only be managed in the database.

The option of giving tags the “Private” property would solve this problem
completely. It would also be conceivable that if a top level tag is marked as
“Private”, the subordinate tags would automatically be assigned this property
as well. This would be a simple way of creating a structure that enables
internal organization, but which remains hidden from the external viewer for
the reasons mentioned above.

Thanks for your interest.

Best regards, Roland
