Sorry but this is awful. On my computer (Arch Linux) I am compiling kernels,
creating QEMU images and other heavy stuff (many big files, big directories),
and recently my machine started literally choking without reason (no response
for seconds, sometimes **minutes** even!), very similar to OP.
At first I though my SSD was failing, I run smartctl and such, no result. Then
I checked ioctl and saw baloo appearing to hog disk resources every second or
so. I suspended and disabled it, and now it's all fine, as fast as it used to
be.

Can we do something about it, I almost considered reinstalling my OS because of
this nonsense, it made me suffer a lot. Thanks.
