If the same freeze happens in Kate, please report a separate bug against
KTextEditor.

Unclear where the problem is without debug symbols.
If the behavior that is desired and correct for local files causes freezes on
slow disks, I guess KNetworkMounts can be used to fix it. KDevelop does not use
this class at all right now.
