This bug is still present as of KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.4, but only sometimes.
At seemingly random times, the behaviour will change to that described by Nikos
Chantziaras. Running plasmashell --replace will fix the application launcher
and restore the correct behaviour for the current session. Further details:
