Yes and no: I've checked again, for all widgets, which do have their own config
dialog, the window stays visible.
For all others, whose configs live e.g. in the SystemSettings, the
SystemSettings window is hidden and can't be brought to front in edit mode.

No one talked about closing, just hiding like in the "peak to desktop" effect.
I'm not sure if it's useful to have the window in the edit mode, because there
you want to be distraction free.
Secondly, the behavior is fully inconsistent:
1) As mentioned above Config Window Opened -> Edit mode does not work equally
for all widgets
2) Edit mode -> Open Config _always_ exits the edit mode
Therefore I'd like to re-open the issue. Feel free to lower the priority to
"minor" or if you are still not with me to close it. ;)
