Bug ID: 502952 Summary: You cannot tell what keyboard you are entering in system settings Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: master Platform: openSUSE OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: kevin.coo...@gmail.com CC: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk Target Milestone: 1.0 Created attachment 180371 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=180371&action=edit Screenshot that missed the dropdown no matter how many times I tried...but you get the idea I could not find the correct KDE version in the list: KDE Frameworks: 6.12.0 Qt: Using 6.9.0 and built against 6.9.0 openSUSE Tumbleweed (Xcb) Build ABI: x86_64-little_endian-lp64 Kernel: linux 6.14.1-1-default Just setting up laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad p14s gen5 Intel/NVidia, currently using the Meteor Lake-P [Intel Arc Graphics] and i915 driver) and was going to see if changing my keyboard would let me use the key that they put on for Microsoft Copilot for something other than catching hangnails and gathering lint... But it would seem that the developers are being forced to pay BY THE LETTER DISPLAYED ON THE SCREEN with the drop-down list. Even when maximized on a 4K display, or even if stretched across three displays, the drop-down stays exactly the same. I have a choice, it seems, of "Lenovo (pre..", "Lenovo (pre..", "Lenovo (pre..", "Lenovo (pre..", "Lenovo (pre..", or "Lenovo (pre..". I wager that if someone would let the poor developers use more than 11 character-wide dropdown (or let you select the entry so you could paste it into Kate and see what it said) that each of the above options would turn out to be something different! *** OBSERVED RESULT Cannot tell what the hell I am entring EXPECTED RESULT Actually knowing what my choices might be -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
