For KOrganizer "Update Available Calendars" (i.e "Synchronize") would be better
than "Update Calendar" or "Update Folder".
for individual calendars/folders you can update from the calendar list in the
lower left corner
For KMail, isn't "Check Mail" button good enough?
I don't know about akregator and kaddressbook
