            Bug ID: 502814
Summary: Plasma System Monitor widgets stop updating with new
                    data
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: plasmashell
           Version: master
          Platform: openSUSE
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: major
          Priority: NOR
         Component: System Monitor widgets
          Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
          Reporter: j...@holodeck1.com
                CC: ahiems...@heimr.nl, notm...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
As of late I am experiencing often, that when Plasma runs for a long time I
notice that System Monitor widgets are not updating anymore. I have several of
them on the desktop, for monitoring CPU/GPU temperatures, voltages,
utilisation, netowrk upload/download speeds, fan RPMs... And after this happens
well the widget itself is still responsive, e.g. when I move mouse over one
sensor datum, displayed as value under graph, the info does get highlighted. It
is just that the values do not get updated anymore and just keep showing the
same number. When this happens I also notice that Firefox freezes when it is
trying to display a notification, and also Plasma shortcuts (like Ctrl+F12 to
show the desktop) stop working. I have to "killall -9 Plasmashell" at this
point ("kquitapp6 plasmashell" does not work, neither does "plasmashell
--replace").

I am not sure if this is something specific to System Monitor widgets, but it
is the most visible there. For example the digital clock widget continues
updating time just fine.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have several System Monitor widgets with each displaying several
hardware/system infor values.
2. Wait until for several hours

OBSERVED RESULT
Updating of values in System Monitor widgets stops, trying to show
notifications freezes Firefox for some time, keyboard shortcuts for Plasma stop
working

EXPECTED RESULT
Values in System Monitor widgets should not stop updating, notifications should
continue working as always, shortcuts should work
