I'm not sure if this is the correct platform. But maybe a more simple solution
in the full linux space is give it a better icon not just in kde but in the
other toolkits as well. If removing it is difficult maybe a shift in giving it
a icon that makes since to what its function represents would be better.  I'm
not sure what that would look like but the three - lines, don't really
represent what your clicking on. Nor do they show that you generally are
getting fewer options or that more options are hidden in more drop-downs. 


I cant say this is a solution but if hiding it with a toggle or some code
that's aware the user is using normal menus/global menus can't really be done
in a economical way that doesn't put stress on the kde developers. Maybe
changing how it looks to something more representative to its actual function
would be better. I know web wont use a standard like that. But maybe the kde
and gtk side could. Though I know its a stretch.
