I cannot reproduce the problem now; I toggled "Previews > Remote storage: Show previews for" back to "no file" and the files on my external disk still get their previews generated, even in folders I have not entered before (I can see the previews appearing progressively). It seems like that disk was marked "not remote" somewhere so the settings for remote disks don't apply anymore. > We don't want to push for workarounds, they should only be temporary. The previews for files & directories are present there now, but I cannot tell if that worked before as I never used it. > That would cause your disk to not be visible by default in the places panel.
