Thank you for your comment. This indeed looks like a thread issue, but the circumstantial evidence suggests it has worked well for firefox and thunderbird for quite a while. Given the difficulty of running thunderbird under valgrind when we execute the test suites, I will opt for running TSAN version of thunderbird. Let me try TSAN first. Then Helgrind, or DRD.
