Bug ID: 501874 Summary: KPhotoAlbum leaving user totally clueless about modules in "Funktionsstatus -- KPhotoAlbum" Classification: Applications Product: kphotoalbum Version: 6.0.1 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kpab...@willden.org Reporter: crptdng...@gmx.net Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY KPhotoAlbum leaving user totally clueless about missing modules in "Funktionsstatus -- KPhotoAlbum" STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Install KPhotoAlbum via system package installer (e.g. apt-get for debian) and run app for the first time. 2. Chose to open in demo mode and skip creating personal database for now. 3. In KPhotoAlbum main window, go to menu bar "Hilfe" -> "Funktionsstatus von KPhotoAlbum" ("Help" -> "Function status of KPhotoAlbum"). A window is shown containing an overview of modules available for currently installed and running KPhotoAlbum. OBSERVED RESULT 1. The overview of modules that are currently available/installed and are not installed does not specify how to add a missing module. No module name is given, no package name is given. It is actually recommended to compile KPhotoAlbum from sources which is useless as it has just been installed using the system's own package management and this was done on a purpose (e.g. to avoid conflicting user installations messing up system's own package management). Example: "Kartenansicht für geolokalisierte Bilder" - "Nein" means this functionality currently is not available. What should I do to fix this? The module's section states that KPhotoAlbum needs be compiled using Marble but it does not say if current version has been compiled using marble support and what would be needed to add this module functionality. EXPECTED RESULT 1. If a module and/or functionality is currently missing / not working KPhotoAlbum should state what EXACTLY to do to add this missing feature so it is availble. For someone like me who prefers not to compile things but instead use clean system's own package management it would be important to have the name of the missing package(s). k3b is doing something similar and tells exactly what is missing for a specific feature to be supported.
