This is a different issue than the one reported here, which was for the brightness slider not always appearing in the widget. If you have an AMD GPU, you could be seeing bug 495003. Otherwise, it could be bug 492481, or bug 490472. If your issue is one of those, please add some information in a comment: - How is the monitor connected? - Has changing screen brightness via Plasma ever worked? - Can you paste the output of `kscreen-doctor -o`?
