Possible workaround for time being to get rid of issue is open /etc/environment
with your favorite text editor "sudo nano /etc/environment" and add
POWERDEVIL_NO_DDCUTIL=1 at the end of that file like this and then save and
exit and reboot. You cant control brightness from plasma after that but atleast
brightness stays at set percentage
