Can reproduce on my system, FWIW. There isn't a total hang, but I can get the
cursor position to de-synchronize from what menu is being shown fairly easily
just by rapidly moving up and down.
This isn't a sensible thing to actually do of course. But it does seem to
indicate that there's an opportunity for optimization here.
