The problem cannot be reproduced here.
I suspect that when you created the new collection you deleted your existing
collection and added it again. In fact, the existing collection is then created
as a new one with a new ID.
That explains why your existing collection disappeared and was rebuilt without
the tags.
An existing collection can only be edited using the update function (round
circle icon).
