It seems to me that all work in progress towards "disable touchpad when a mouse
is plugged in" will still end us up in a worse position than we were in a year
back. The Synaptics driver did not only offer this binary setting, but also
allowed to define a white-list of mouse-like devices that do *not* disable the
touchpad. Here, I e.g. added the "Logitech Spotlight" virtual laser pointer or
the touch-screen input device I get when attaching our classroom equipment via
USB.

Is it still possible to somehow use the Synaptics driver?
